Altamont Creek Elementary Named 2022 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School

Congratulations to Altamont Creek Elementary School (ACES), which received the 2022 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on July 26. LVEF Board Member David Darlington, who has promoted sustainability throughout the LVJUSD, accompanied ACES Principal Andrea Tapia, Fenna Gatty (Science Specialist), and Jessica Calkins (Executive Assistant to the Principal) to the ceremony. The California Department of Education nominated ACES for the national award because it had created a campus community focused on sustainability and environmental education.

For the past five years, the Livermore Valley Education Foundation has provided more than $5,000 in grants to programs that support physical, emotional, and mental well-being as a part of sustainable education.
